Wike To Construct Under Ground Rail In Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has announced plans for Nigeria’s first underground rail line, which will connect the Abuja Metro Station with the Central Business District (CBD) Bus Terminal. The rail line, set to run eight meters below the surface, will facilitate an intermodal transfer of commuters between underground train stops and the above-ground bus/taxi terminal, located at Eagle Square. This initiative, led by Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enechi, aims to enhance public transportation in Abuja by reducing traffic congestion and improving travel efficiency. FCT Minister Nyesom Wike emphasized the project’s role in integrating and modernizing the city’s transport system, as well as addressing public safety concerns.
