In celebration of the 2024 International Day of the Girl-Child, the Rotary Club of Abuja Jabi Lakeside distributed over 500 packs of reusable sanitary pads to girls in the Kuchingoro community, Abuja. In collaboration with the NGO Slay Dot Com Aid, the initiative also provided training on pad production to promote self-sufficiency among the beneficiaries.

President of the club, Amobi Ogum, emphasized the negative impact of girls missing school during menstruation, pledging ongoing support for projects that empower the girl-child. Additionally, five sewing machines were given to selected recipients with instructions to use them for personal and community benefit.

District Governor Mike Ukachi Nwanoshiri praised the club’s dedication to girl-child empowerment, a priority of his administration. Chief Ibrahim Wambai, the traditional ruler of Kuchigoro, expressed gratitude for the Rotary Club’s continuous support in education, healthcare, and other community initiatives.
