Prices Of Garri, Tomatoes, Others Drop In Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu.
The prices of key food items like garri, tomatoes, and pepper have significantly dropped in Anambra, Ebonyi, and Enugu states, offering relief to many households. In Awka, a bag of garri decreased from N90,000 in June to N75,000, while a basket of tomatoes fell from N100,000 to between N80,000 and N85,000. Similar reductions were observed for other items, such as chili pepper and onions. However, the prices of beans and rice remain high due to transportation costs. The price drops are mainly attributed to the harvest season and increased supply, while some areas still see high prices for certain goods due to local customs or delayed harvests. Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s “Farm to Feed” campaign in Anambra aims to further reduce food prices by encouraging more people to engage in farming.
