One Dies, Business Grounded As Ogun Hunters, Herders Clash.
A violent clash between local hunters and herders in the Iwoye-Ketu community of Imeko-Afon Local Government Area, Ogun State, resulted in the death of one individual, significantly disrupting business activities. The tension originated from ongoing concerns about a series of kidnappings in the area, believed to be carried out by Fulani herders. In response, hunters initiated regular patrols to enhance community security. However, the situation escalated on Monday when suspected herders ambushed and killed one of the patrolling hunters. This led to widespread fear, causing residents to abandon the market and remain indoors to avoid potential violence. The situation was eventually brought under control by the intervention of police and military forces. The state police spokesperson was unavailable for comment at the time of reporting.
