Ogun Government Launches Ambitious Rice Production Project

We are pleased to share our commitment to the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to enhance food security in Nigeria. During the official commissioning of the OGSTEP Intervention Support Project, we emphasised our dedication to increasing local rice production on a 200-hectare farm in Ogun State.

This initiative aligns with our “Building Our Future Together” agenda, which focusses on agriculture as a tool for economic development, job creation, and poverty alleviation. We acknowledged the support of the Ogun State Economic Development Project (OGSTEP) and the World Bank in making this project a reality.

With 30,138 farmers, including men, women, and youth, participating in this program, we are on track to significantly boost rice production, aiming for an annual yield of 3 billion Naira from just 200 hectares.

We are also providing advanced agricultural techniques, quality inputs, and capacity-building programs to ensure the sustainability and success of our farmers. This project is not just about rice; it’s about empowering our people and securing the future of Ogun State.

We express our gratitude to all stakeholders, especially our hard-working farmers, for their dedication to this project. As we move forward, we remain committed to expanding this initiative to 2,000 hectares, further contributing to Nigeria’s food supply and economic growth.
