Lagos Red Line Rail Begins Partial Operations.

Lagos Transport Commissioner Leads Officials on Redline Rail Test Ride

Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, led key officials on a non-fee-paying test ride of the Redline Rail, traveling from Ikeja to Agbado. This trial, part of ongoing assessments, is crucial for ensuring the rail line’s readiness for public use.

For the past six weeks, the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has been running tests without passengers, achieving a 90 percent success rate. The current phase involves non-fee-paying passengers to observe behavior and fine-tune operations before the official launch.

The train departed Ikeja at 1:19 PM, stopping at Agege and Iju before arriving in Agbado at 1:47 PM. The return journey began at 2:50 PM, concluding at Ikeja by 3:19 PM.

Accompanying the Commissioner were Permanent Secretary Mr. Olawale Musa, LAMATA MD Engr. Abimbola Akinajo, and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Toyin Aremu.
