Kano police arrest two suspected kidnappers and rescue victims

Operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Kano State Police Command successfully raided a kidnappers’ den in a remote forest in Gubuchi Village, Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State. During the operation, which took place on August 24, 2024, at approximately 4:30 am, two suspects were arrested, and two victims were rescued.

According to a statement from SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the spokesperson for the command, the kidnappers had previously attacked a resident of Rogo Local Government Area in Kano, severely beating him and abducting his 20-year-old daughter. The abductors then transported the victim to the forest in Kaduna and demanded a ransom of N30 million for her release.

The kidnapping was reported on July 18, 2024, at around 12:45 am. The victim, identified as Hafsat Nuhu, was held for 37 days before being rescued. Alongside her, another victim, Alhaji Badaru Adamu, a 65-year-old resident of Mahuta Village in Kubau LGA, Kaduna State, was also freed.

Two suspects, Yakubu Abubakar, 40, and Ali Noti, 50, were apprehended at the scene. The case is currently under investigation.
