Inside Abandoned 250-bed Ogun Hospital Where Termites

A 250-bed hospital in Ogun State, built during Senator Ibikunle Amosun’s tenure and largely completed, has been left abandoned since 2019. Despite being equipped with modern medical equipment, including ventilators, the hospital has fallen into disrepair under the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun. The governor cited financial constraints for not completing and running the hospital, despite earlier plans to concession it to Afrexim Bank and a medical group. The neglect has left the facility overgrown with weeds, its equipment unused, and the hospital now requires an estimated N10 billion to become operational. The situation has sparked criticism, especially from the opposition, who lament the wasted potential of the hospital, which could have enhanced healthcare in the state.
