Enugu Government demolishes kidnappers' hideouts, recovers weapons.
The Enugu State Government demolished properties used by suspected kidnappers to hold their victims, following the killing of 27 suspected kidnappers by security operatives. Led by Uche Anya, Chairperson of the Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority, the demolition occurred in Enugu East Council Area. Notably, an uncompleted three-story building with an underground tunnel in Emene-Nike and a large farm in Ogbeke-Nike were destroyed. The state recovered firearms and other criminal items from these locations. The demolition, backed by a 2016 anti-kidnapping law, serves as a warning to property owners that their assets will be seized if used for criminal activities. The government plans to repurpose the demolished properties for public use.
