Ekiti Oba Slashes Food Prices, Bans Traders’ Associations
The Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe, has dissolved various traders’ associations in Ado Ekiti markets to curb their undue control over prices and ensure farmers have direct access to traders. The monarch, alongside the Ewi-in-Council, introduced price regulations for essential food items and warned of sanctions for non-compliance. This decision follows public complaints about inflated food prices due to traders’ manipulation. Chiefs will monitor the markets to enforce these new measures.
