Tanker Explosion in Minna Claims Over 30 Lives, 50 Cattle Burnt
A tragic tanker explosion has claimed the lives of more than 30 people in Agaie Local Government Area, Niger State.
The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 8, 2024, along the Lapai-Agaie road, approximately two kilometers from Dendo Community.
The explosion was triggered when a petrol tanker collided with a trailer truck transporting passengers and cattle from Kano to Lagos.
Two other vehicles, including a crane truck and a pickup van, were also caught in the blast.
In addition to the human toll, over 50 cattle were burned in the fire. The Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) is still conducting search and rescue operations, as more bodies remain trapped in the wreckage.
